What goes into a school cone
In Germany, children get a large paper cone filled with small presents on their first day at school. A finger puppet takes up hardly any room in it and stays with the child afterwards, in the school bag or on the desk.
Finger puppets and small figures
The Folkmanis mini finger puppets are modelled on real animals, from the snail to the chameleon. There are also finger puppets by The Puppet Company and key rings with small figures for the school bag.
A bigger gift for starting school
Whatever no longer fits into the cone is often placed next to it: a hand puppet the child can use to tell the family about the first day at school. The fox, hedgehog, squirrel and kitten are among the animals chosen for this most often.
For the whole class
Some parents give the class a classroom pet when school starts. If you are looking for a finger puppet for every child, the giraffe and wolf by The Puppet Company are also available in larger numbers; find out more on our hand puppets for school page.
