Often ordered by schools
Schools and other institutions order these figures from us particularly often.
A classroom pet for the school year
Many teachers bring a hand puppet into class as a classroom pet or mascot. It says good morning, asks the class questions and comments on what happens in lessons. When school starts, parents like to buy their child the same mascot the teacher uses in class, so it can join them at home too.
Wolf and giraffe: Nonviolent Communication
In Nonviolent Communication according to Marshall B. Rosenberg, wolf language stands for judgements and blame, and giraffe language for words that express feelings and needs. With two hand puppets, both ways of speaking can be set side by side in role play. Schools and seminars order the long-sleeved hand puppets by The Puppet Company for this, often as a pair, along with the matching finger puppets.
Chameleons for the behaviour programme
In the German ‘Verhaltenstraining für Schulanfänger’ programme, a chameleon called Ferdi accompanies the children. Our chameleons are not characters from the programme, but many schools use one of them alongside it, from the mini finger puppet to the large chameleon.
Owl and fox
Owls and foxes are seen as clever animals, which makes them popular classroom pets. Folkmanis models both closely on the real animals, as hand puppets and as mini finger puppets.
For science lessons and story time
Schools order some figures noticeably often on their own. The Metamorphosis Butterfly hand puppet turns from caterpillar to chrysalis to monarch butterfly by way of two zips; parishes and church organisations often order it because it shows the life cycle. The Enchanted Tree has a movable mouth, eyes and branches and brings its own stories along, and the bookworm with glasses is well cast for story time. Turtles, sea creatures such as the blue whale, and ants are also on the list. The Folkmanis mini bee finger puppet is often ordered for training courses and for lessons on nature conservation.
Finger puppets for the whole class
For role play in which every child has a figure, schools like to order finger puppets in larger numbers, in larger numbers: besides the giraffe and wolf, the dolphin or butterfly, for example.
Cat and dragon
A cat and a dragon are often ordered as a pair for language support, for example the Folkmanis kitten and baby dragon.
