Folkmanis Honey Bee Hand Puppet

No humble bumble, the honey bee glove puppet is a plump and plush dynamo deserving of our attention. After all, life would not be so sweet without the important work of these busy pollinators. (suitable for both left- and right-handed users)

A honey bee colony (Apis mellifera) consists of a single queen, several thousand worker bees and, seasonally, a few hundred drones. The queen can lay up to 2,000 eggs a day and may live for several years, while summer workers often survive only a few weeks. Depending on age, workers take on different roles: first cleaning and tending brood inside the hive, then building comb, and finally foraging for nectar and pollen outside. Producing just one kilogram of honey requires foragers to visit millions of flowers between them, covering tens of thousands of kilometres in total. In winter, the remaining bees cluster tightly around the queen to keep the hive at a steady temperature.

Did you know that honey bees are incredibly important pollinators, responsible for pollinating about one-third of the food crops we consume? These industrious insects communicate through dance movements to convey the location of food sources to their hive mates.
