This beautiful green Iguana puppet makes a perfect pet for lizard lovers. Versatile and realistic, you can animate his forked tongue, jaws and front feet. His soft, scaly textured body is fun to touch and will never shed!
The green iguana (Iguana iguana) lives in the rainforests of Central and South America, almost always in the canopy of trees overhanging a river or lake. Its diet is very nearly all plant matter - leaves, flowers and fruit - broken down with the help of bacteria in the gut. A large dewlap hangs beneath the chin, spread out while basking and raised to impress a rival. The tail accounts for roughly two thirds of the total length and serves as a whip, as a counterweight for climbing and, in an emergency, as a piece the lizard can shed. Cornered high in a tree, the lizard simply drops several metres into the water and swims off with its legs held against its body.
Did you know that an iguana carries a third eye on the top of its head? Beneath a pale scale between the eyes sits a light-sensitive organ that forms no image but registers brightness and shadow. It reports the shadow of a hawk passing overhead and keeps the animal's internal clock on time.
