Bring playful mischief to any scene with the expressive Folkmanis Lizard Hand Puppet, a delightfully whimsical character full of charm. Leathery texture adds a touch of realism, and a movable mouth and forelegs make for lively storytelling.
Lizards (Lacertilia) form the largest group of scaled reptiles, with well over 7,000 species, and are absent only from Antarctica. Being cold-blooded, they regulate their temperature by moving between sunny spots and shade. Many species collect scent particles on a forked tongue and pass them to a sensory organ in the palate that picks up scent traces the nose would miss. Their diet ranges from insects and snails to fruit and small vertebrates. The size range is considerable, from geckos a few centimetres long to the Komodo dragon.
Did you know that a regrown lizard tail is not the same as the original? When shedding it, the animal breaks along a prepared fracture plane in a vertebra, and the twitching remnant holds the attacker's attention. What grows back is a rod of cartilage without vertebrae, and it cannot be shed again at the same point.
