Holland lop rabbit is a bundle of cuddly joy. Made with fabrics that are more than just soft, they are snuggable and if the rabbit could talk it would say cuddle with me.
The wild rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) is built for jumping. The hind legs are far stronger than the front ones and bring the animal up to speed almost from a standstill. Over short distances it reaches a good 30 kilometres per hour. Rabbits move on their toes rather than on the whole foot. Unlike a dog or a cat, they have no paw pads, and their soles are covered entirely in dense fur. The skeleton is remarkably light too: seven to eight per cent of body weight, against twelve to thirteen in a cat.
Did you know that the Holland Lop is the smallest of all lop breeds? From 1950 Dutch keepers crossed large lops with dwarf rabbits, and the breed was recognised in its own right in 1964. A grown animal stays under two kilograms.
