Anima — French soft toys with character
The French brand Anima has been bringing plush animals to market since the early 1960s, appealing to children and adults in equal measure. Behind the brand is Groupe Anima, a family business based in Hipsheim, Alsace, which describes itself as a "maker of childhood emotions." Design work takes place in France, while production is carried out in partnership with Hansa Creation in the Philippines. Both companies share the same commitment to quality and develop their collections together.
What makes Anima soft toys stand out
Anima plush animals are known for their soft shapes, tender facial expressions and carefully chosen materials. The fur is matched in texture and colour to each species and brushed by hand so that it falls naturally. Unlike many mass-produced plush toys, Anima animals do not look exaggeratedly cute — they keep a natural, lifelike expression. Proportions follow the real animal: a fox appears lean and alert, a bear broad and calm.
Materials and safety
The filling in Anima soft toys is made from recycled fibres. The outer shells use synthetic furs developed specifically for each collection. All materials are laboratory-tested and meet the European EN 71 toy safety standard. The CE mark confirms compliance with applicable EU directives.
Collections at a glance
Anima organises its range into several lines. The main collection features realistic animal designs spanning farmyard, woodland and savannah species. The Animadoo line is aimed at babies and toddlers, with extra-soft fabrics and rounded forms. The Têtabizous range offers smaller, pocket-sized animals. For businesses, Anima also produces custom mascots and special editions.
Use in nurseries, schools and therapy
The natural design makes Anima soft toys a practical aid in educational work. During circle time or nature lessons, animal species can be illustrated using the plush figures. Children spot differences between species more quickly when they can hold and turn a toy in their hands. In speech therapy, familiar animal figures help lower inhibitions — children often tell a soft toy more than they would tell an adult. In elderly care and dementia support, soft animal figures provide tactile stimulation and can trigger memories of former pets or time spent outdoors.
Care
Anima plush toys can be surface-cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. Allow to dry, then gently brush the fur if needed. Machine washing is not recommended, as it may affect the toy's shape and fur texture.
