Folkmanis Mini Largemouth Bass Finger Puppet

The youngest of sport fishers can join in pretend play with the amazing and realistic Folkmanis mini largemouth bass finger puppet. On a single finger the fish wriggles as convincingly at the kitchen table as on the edge of the bath.

The largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) comes from eastern North America and has since been introduced to many countries. It holds station in warm, weedy lakes and slow rivers, favouring the shade of sunken timber or lily beds. Small fish, crayfish and frogs are drawn in whole as the bass flares its mouth and gill covers in one sudden movement. Grown fish reach a good sixty centimetres. In spring the male sweeps a shallow hollow in the bottom and guards eggs and fry for several weeks.

Did you know that the largemouth bass is named for its jaw? With the mouth shut, the upper jaw extends past the rear edge of the eye, whereas in the closely related smallmouth bass it stops short of it. On that one detail anglers tell the two species apart at a glance.
