Folkmanis Little Pteranodon Hand Puppet (Small Stage Puppet)

Dinosaur fans will delight in the Folkmanis little Pteranodon Hand Puppet. Ideal for small hands, this flying reptile is a wonderful companion on trips to the natural history museum, with a beak and wings that follow every move.

Pteranodon longiceps belonged to the pterosaurs — a branch of the reptiles all of its own — and not to the dinosaurs. Some 85 million years ago it soared above a shallow inland sea that split North America in two. Its beak carried no teeth at all, and a long bony crest swept back from the skull. It most likely fished on the wing, close to the surface: fossils preserve fish remains inside the body cavity.

Did you know that a Pteranodon could span a good six metres across the wings yet weighed little more than a large dog? Hollow, thin-walled bones made that build possible, and rising air over the sea carried the animal for miles with barely a wingbeat.
